Dr. Cheah Li Kang

TECHNOLOGY ADVISOR

Dr Cheah Li Kang, a key person of Asia Pacific Acquisition Corporation (APAC)’s Board of Advisors, is in charge of steering the organization’s technological wing with his technological expertise. He currently holds the key management position and as a board member, in a few engineering and manufacturing companies. He has proven track records in establishing company from startup to USD 100 million with profit margin of more than 20 percent within 3 year. He owns a consultant firm and a surface treatment company, Cotec (Singapore) Pte Ltd and Fatter (Singapore) Pte Ltd respectively specializing in advanced surface technology. He has many years of working experience with multinational companies such as Apple, Motorola, Nokia, Sony, Canon, Nikon and etc.

Dr Cheah was awarded his degree in Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (1st Class Honor) from University of Malaya and Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University. He has authored and co-authored more than 30 journal papers and 20 conference papers during his Ph.D. study related to diamond like carbon thin film deposition and characterization with vacuum related technology.

He joined Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) as Centre Manager to spearhead R&D and business development in electronics industry. He has organized various consortia and industry projects to transfer the advanced technology to companies and organizations in Singapore namely Siemens Medical Instrument (SMI), UTAC, Defend Science Organization (DSO) Singapore and others for commercial and military application. Some major achievements are development of Under Bump Metallization (UBM) with magnetron sputtering method and Electroless Nickel (EN) methodology and low cost fine pitch ultrasonic flip-chip bonding technology.

He joined Nanofilm Technology International; a technology startup specialized in vacuum technology as Chief Technology Officer. He spearheaded the R&D and business development area. He successfully grows the company together with key management from SGD2millions to 15 millions through introduction of new coating products. He has filed more than 5 patents in related coating areas. The company is specialized in vacuum system building, which equipped with the competency of mechanical and electrical design, precision machinery, welding, assembly and process optimization.

He joined Jinya Electronics, Tianjin (a USD 2 billion revenue EMS) as General Manager to establish and lead the decorative coating division specializing in non-conductive vacuum metallization. He successfully qualified and grown the division to serve major mobile phone makers such as Nokia, Motorola, Samsung and many others
